Looks like I'll be camping out on the eve of November 19

This morning as soon as my fingertips hit a computer keyboard, I headed over to 4 Color Rebellion to get the dirt about the Wii. $250? Sweet. November 19th release date? I can't wait. One type of packaging? Score. Only available in white? Sadness. I've never been a fan of white electronics.

When I first saw the Wii and got an eyefull of the red and lime green versions, I salivated. Alas, it's not to be. I'm sure in the future Nintendo will release different colored consoles, but I won't be able to wait that long!

Also, be sure to check out Wii's official website.

I hope to read about your Wii first impressions, as I will not be buying it at launch.

I'm holding out for lime green. I settled for a blue DS when I wanted pink because it was necessary (it being my Japanese dictionary and all), but I am not compromising here. I can live on Japanese PS2 games for quite a long time, TYVM.

On the one hand, I sort of get the witholding of colours thing. On the other hand, it pisses me off and makes me not want to give the company money who intends to make a colour I want but won't give it to me when I want it. Grr. Why should I have to wait because I think white is hideously ugly?

tekanji: I imported the Navy DS Lite, spending $70 more, because I didn't want the white one, so I know how you feel about not wanting to compromise. I know it sounds insane that I was willing to spend $70 just to get the colour I wanted, but something "superficial" (as opposed to functional) does actually matter to me also. I'll probably hold out for a black Wii once there are more games (Metroid Prime 3!!)

*$70 extra for an imported DS Lite

I'm sure I'll be writing endlessly about the Wii once I get it. (Or at least my co-blogger will!)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the white is awful. Shions_glasses and I are going in on the Wii together, so I think what we're going to do is get that Best Buy warranty and trade in the white when a color we like better comes out.

My heart's set on the pink DS lite as well. I have the older fat blue DS which was fine, but I was set on getting a pink DS when in Japan. I couldn't find it anywhere even though I was in Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo. Totally heartbreaking. It wasn't until I got home that I found out the US will be getting the pink, so I'm lucky. It really does piss me off that Nintendo staggers the colors--their worst business practice, in my opinion.

I wish I could hold out, it'd be simpler, but I've become Wii-obsessed. I was just thinking this morning how I'd be able to check out the weather on the Wii instead of having to wait through the endless commercials on the weather channel or the boot up of my laptop.

The colour is like clothing -- it can be an expression of your personality.

It's also something that you have to look at for however many hours you play the games for, and so it's nice to have something that matches your decor as well as something you like to stare at.

It may be superficial, but I think it's an important part of the buying process (and apparently many other people agree, because even Sony has picked up on the colour scheme thing).

Yeah, the pink is crazy popular. Well, the DS Lite is crazy popular (you have to know when the stores get the shipments here), but the pink is really crazy popular. One guy at my school, whose favourite colour is pink (he constantly wears this pink hat, has more than a few pink shirts... the only thing NOT pink is his hair, basically) and what he did was import a DS Lite from HK that was originally imported from Japan. Now that is dedication.

I don't speak this language, but I wanted to let you know that November 19th is another day of note ... (my birthday). I'm not implying I'd like one of them fancy-schmancy machines y'all are so geeked about, but, you know, send a nod my way while you're camped out in the rain all day.
